In 1935, the first co-operative bank was opened in Chopda. At that time all the businessmen in the city decided to establish city’s first co-operative bank. For this noble cause Shri Govardhandas Bhikaridas Gujarathi (Bababji) and Shri. Maganlal Nageendas Gujarathi (Bhau) has taken a lead to open urban co-operative bank. As a result of everyone’s efforts Chopda People’s Urban Co.op credit Society Ltd was established on 25th October, 1939. Soon in 1940 a credit society became a bank.

Started with 2 room’s office in house of Shri Maganlal Nageendas Sheth (Bhau) with only 2 working staff, the bank progressed rapidly in its journey of 75 years. And today bank have huge head office spread in 7400+ sq.ft area . Two branches in key areas of the city. Noticeable thing is bank running in 3 of its branches are self owned properties of the bank.
At the time of establishment their were 63 shareholders. Share capital was Rs. 20,000 only.
In Present situation bank has 3964 shareholders & share capital is Rs. 93,69,000.
In 1939 bank’s deposit was Rs. 22,929 and loans Rs. 30,525
At end of march 2014 deposits are Rs. 68 Cr. 69 lakhs and loan Rs. 42 Cr. 85 lakhs
At the end of March 2022 deposits Rs .89.26 Cr. and loan Rs. 50.00 Cr.
